The Bhagwant Mann cupboard in Punjab will formalise a call tomorrow that the printed of Gurbani from Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar needs to be made free. Chief Minister Mann, who contends that Gurbani is everybody’s proper and it needs to be freed from price, made the announcement in a tweet at present.
“With the blessings of God, we’re going to make a historic determination tomorrow, as per the demand of all devotes, we’re including a brand new clause within the Sikh Gurdwara Act 1925 that the transmission of Gurbani from Harminder Sahib shall be free for all… no tender required… tomorrow within the cupboard… on June 20, a vote shall be taken within the state meeting,” his tweet learn.
The rights to broadcast Gurbani from Harmandir Sahib has been granted by the Sikhs’ apex physique, the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandhak Committee or SGPC to the PTC community, owned by the politically highly effective Badal household. Making it free is predicted to interrupt the community’s monopoly and degree the bottom for all tv channels.
Politically, it’s prone to dilute the Panthic aura of the opposition Shiromani Akali Dal, which is dominated by the Badals.
When Mr Mann had proposed earlier to make the telecast of Gurbani free, it was fiercely opposed by SGPC, Badals and the Akali Dal.
In an announcement, SGPC chief Harjinder Singh Dhami mentioned: “Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann ji mustn’t attempt to confuse the spiritual issues of Sikhs… Do not confuse the nation in your political pursuits. Broadcasting of Gurbani shouldn’t be a standard broadcast, its sanctity and ethics shouldn’t be uncared for”.
Akali Dal’s Daljeet Singh Cheema known as the transfer “unconstitutional” and a “direct interference within the spiritual actions of the Sikh group”.
“The Sikh Gurdwara Act is beneath Parliament. The Sikh group has elected the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee via voting to take selections concerning Guru Ghar beneath this Act of Parliament. Has the above committee handed any such decision on this regard? With out that, even the Parliament can not amend this Act. The Sikh group won’t ever tolerate this work being carried out beneath the orders of (Arvind) Kejriwal,” learn a tough translation of his tweet.
The opposite opposition events too — together with the BJP and the Congress — are fiercely opposing this, contending that the Sikh Gurdwara Act 1925 is a regulation made by Parliament, which the state authorities can not change.
Congress’s Sukhpal Singh Khaira questioned how the Punjab authorities could make a change to a central act.
