A 30-year-old taxi driver was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a six-year-old woman whereas she was being taken to high school, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South East Rajesh Dev mentioned. Police mentioned that the accused has been recognized as Mohammad Azhar.

In accordance with the police, the accused has been arrested primarily based on the criticism of the sufferer’s mom.

“The complainant reported that the accused driver hailed a cab to take her six-year-old daughter to high school,” added DCP Dev.

“On Wednesday, the sufferer informed her mom that the cab driver had been inappropriately touching her non-public components whereas taking her from faculty for nearly a yr,” the DCP added.

Police mentioned that primarily based on the criticism of the sufferer’s mom, an FIR has been registered on the Shaheen Bagh police station below Part 376 of the Indian Penal Code and Part 6 of the Safety of Kids from Sexual Offenses Act.

“Based mostly on the criticism of the sufferer’s mom, an FIR has been registered below 376 IPC and 6 POSCO Act at Shaheen Bagh police station,” DCP Dev mentioned.
