Finance Minister Says Centre Does Not Intervene In Probe Company’s Functioning

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday mentioned the federal government doesn’t intervene within the functioning of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and rejected the Opposition criticism that the central company is usually misused towards opponents of the Bharatiya Janata Social gathering (BJP).

Addressing a press convention close to Pune on the sidelines of a programme, she mentioned the ED comes into image solely when there’s suspicion of cash laundering.

Requested about ED actions towards Opposition leaders, Ms Sitharaman mentioned the regulation enforcement company, which comes beneath the Ministry of Finance, is aware of its obligations and the federal government doesn’t intervene in its work.
