In case you take a stroll on Berlie Avenue after Four p.m., the aroma of freshly fried samosas, kachoris, and pakoras envelopes the realm. Sudha Chats, a hole-in-the-wall joint is the place these scrumptious treats are made each night by J Satyanarayan and his mom, Sudha, whom the store is called after.

As you step nearer, one can see Sudha sitting behind a big cauldron of piping scorching oil. To her left, is a tray of samosas, and kachoris able to be fried, and a plateful of greens and chickpea batter for the pakoras.
“Sudha Chats was opened in 1983 by my late father P Jawaharlal,” says Satyanarayan, as he smashes a samosa in a paper bowl, garnishes it with onions, chutneys and serves it to an onlooking buyer. He talks about how he began serving to his father in 2000 throughout his school days, and ultimately took over the store after his father’s demise.

Immediately, their menu includes crispy aloo samosas, kachoris which might be supplied plain or with spicy chana masala and tangy chutneys; and a spread of pakoras similar to palak, uncooked banana, chilli, aloo bonda, amongst others. Whereas all of the chaat preparations are must-try, the standout for me is the melt-in-the-mouth gulab jamun: pillowy gentle with simply the correct quantity of sweetness.
Taking us via their each day routine, Satyanarayan says his day begins by going to the market to purchase greens, and prep begins at 10 a.m. “Everybody at house is concerned in making ready all of the snacks, and we prep till 3.0.
