Swedish local weather activist Greta Thunberg was charged with disobeying a police order on Friday, lower than two months after she was convicted and fined for a similar offence.
Thunberg, 20, was fined 1,500 Swedish crowns ($134) by a Swedish courtroom on July 24 for failing to go away a protest when ordered by police. Straight after the decision, Thunberg and different activists from the environmental group Reclaim the Future blocked the highway for oil vans in Malmo harbour and have been once more forcibly eliminated by police.
“The demonstration didn’t have a allow and it led to the blocking of automobile visitors. The girl refused to obey the police command to go away the scene,” the prosecutor stated in an announcement.
Thunberg, who grew to become the face of younger local weather activists worldwide after staging weekly protests in entrance of the Swedish parliament, may face a harsher sentence if convicted a second time. Failure to obey a police order carries a most sentence of six months in jail.
