In mid-2019, Israel’s army used a precision strike on a slim road to kill a Hamas commander whom it known as Iran’s cash man in Gaza.

The commander ran an off-the-books system of remittances during which trusted brokers shuttled bodily money and items throughout borders to settle clients’ balances. This so-called hawala community, as it’s recognized within the Center East, funneled tens of tens of millions of {dollars} in financing from Iran to Hamas’s army wing.
