A case has been registered in opposition to a number of unidentified individuals for providing prayers outdoors two mosques within the previous metropolis space in violation of prohibitory orders on Eid final week, police stated on Friday.
Metropolis Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh Gunawat instructed the media that the clerics had assured the district authorities forward of Eid that nobody could be allowed to supply prayers on the streets outdoors mosques.
“Regardless of such assurance, a lot of individuals supplied namaz on the street outdoors the Eidgah floor beneath Delhi Gate police station and one other mosque beneath Kotwali police station,” the official stated. The FIR was registered on 26 April.
Police are reviewing video footage from the day to establish those that attended the prayers outdoors.
Earlier, police in Kanpur stated they’ve booked over 2,000 individuals on comparable prices in three FIRs.
