The GST Intelligence officers have unearthed a racket involving 461 shell/pretend entities, which had handed on fraudulent enter tax credit score of Rs 863 crore.

In response to the Finance Ministry, the Gurugram Zonal Unit of the Directorate Normal of GST Intelligence busted the racket, which handed on fraudulent Enter Tax Credit score (ITC) via pretend shell entities following a search operation.

“Large variety of cast/ morphed/ pretend gentle copies of paperwork like lease agreements, electrical energy payments, Aadhar card, driving license, PAN card, and so forth. had been detected within the laptops resumed from this secret workplace, which had been used to create and function their pretend entities.

“The forensic examination of the laptops, gadgets seized from this workplace led to the eventual detection of ITC fraud to the tune of Rs 863 crore, involving pretend 461 entities and arrest of two key operatives,” the ministry mentioned on Thursday.

The preliminary investigation signifies that the fraudulent ITC credit score has finally travelled to the excessive evasion-prone steel/iron and metal sector, it added.
