Employees on Saturday (9 December) dismantled the Soviet-era monument of Pink Military Common Mykola Shchors from Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, as a gesture of the nation’s “‘de-Communisation” course of.

The Ministry of Tradition gave permission to take down the statue and authorities had been seen working for hours to dismantle the statue.

Just a few passers-by watched the proceedings and clapped when employees completed taking down the monument.

Heorhii Lukianchuk, a Kyiv resident, mentioned he ran to witness this “historic second” and that it’ll “be on the pages of historical past books.”
