The US house company is testing a futuristic robotic that resembles a snake and might autonomously discover unexplored areas on Moon and Mars. Its design emerges from the form and dealing of the Indian python and is conceptualised by an Indian-origin engineer.
Rohan Thakker, who studied in Nagpur and now works within the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at NASA, is the mind behind this new snake-shaped robotic, named EELS (Exobiology Extant Life Surveyor).
“EELS is clever and versatile and might cross harsh terrains. It might discover crevices and caves and even swim underwater,” he instructed NDTV’s Pallava Bagla throughout an unique interview in California.
“The robotic will assist in seek for life on different planets,” he stated.

Mr Thakker, who did his BTech in Mechanical Engineering from Nagpur’s Visvesvaraya Nationwide Institute of Expertise (VNIT), shared he was impressed by Bob Balaram, an IITian who had designed the Martian helicopter for NASA.
“I used to be a reasonably unhealthy scholar at school. I didn’t get into IIT however I ended up at NASA,” he stated.
On India’s current success at soft-landing on the Moon, he stated that the Chandrayaan-Three mission had a “cricket match-like really feel” and it was a proud second for him as properly.
