A tiger cub in Rajasthan has been named after Paralympic medallist Avani Lekhara, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot stated on Saturday.

Two different cubs have been named ‘Chiranjeevi’ and ‘Chirayu’, he stated.

“To make Worldwide Tiger Day extra historic, three cubs (two tigers and one tigress) of Ranthambore’s tigress T-111 have been named ‘Chiranjeevi’, ‘Chirayu’ and ‘Avani’,” Chief Minister Gehlot tweeted.

“Tigress T-17 was named Krishna after the 2010 Commonwealth Video games gold medalist Krishna Poonia. Equally, now the cub might be named Avani after Paralympic medalist @AvaniLekhara,” the Ashok Gehlot stated.

Avani Lekhara, who belongs to Jaipur, received a gold medal within the 10-metre air rifle standing and a bronze medal within the 50-metre rifle three positions on the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

Worldwide Tiger Day is widely known on July 29 yearly to boost consciousness about tiger conservation.

Mr Gehlot stated when tigers within the nation have been on the verge of extinction, former prime minister Indira Gandhi launched ‘Challenge Tiger’ in April 1973, which led to an unprecedented improve within the variety of tigers within the nation.
