Wholesale Inflation Stays In Adverse For seventh Month At -0.52% In October

The wholesale value index-based inflation remained within the adverse territory for the seventh straight month in October at (-) 0.52 per cent, on easing costs of meals objects.

The WPI-based inflation price has been within the adverse zone since April and was at (-) 0.26 per cent in September, 2023.

In October final yr, WPI was at 8.67 per cent.

Inflation in meals articles eased to 2.53 per cent in October. It was 3.35 per cent within the earlier month.

“The adverse price of inflation in October, 2023, is primarily as a consequence of fall in costs of chemical compounds and chemical merchandise, electrical energy, textiles, primary metals, meals merchandise, paper and paper merchandise, and so on. as in comparison with the corresponding month of earlier yr,” the commerce and trade ministry mentioned on Tuesday.

The gasoline and energy basket inflation was at (-) 2.47 per cent in October, in opposition to (-) 3.35 per cent in September.

In manufactured merchandise, the inflation price was at (-) 1.13 per cent, as in opposition to (-) 1.34 per cent in September.
